Railways - I have been a member of the Furness Model
Railway Club since 1977 and my interests have varied
between OO gauge and live steam, 3 1/2" and 5"
gauge - various attempts at both but such things as
employment, family life and education can slow things
down a bit. Temporarily in watching brief mode with full
intention of restarting when possible
Civil Engineering - I became an Incorporated Engineer
with The Institution of
Civil Engineers in 1996 and find that although not in
the industry at the moment, my interest in civil
engineering, especially with the rail industry, remains.
Professional membership of this esteemed body is
something to aspire to.
After completing a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science at
Lancaster University,
I then studied for an MRes degree, Science of the
Environment, also at Lancaster.
I have written a series of documents describing railway civil
engineering works in which I have had involvement and these can
be found at my
railway civil engineering site. Although not many at the
moment, the list will hopefully grow.
