St Joseph's Skerton
Music![]()
Let us sing and make music to the Lord (the Psalms)
For two thousand years Music has been used by Christians, to deepen the dignity of worship, add to devotion and prayerfulness and build up unity of the people. All are encouraged to participate in the music. He who sings prays twice (St. Augustine).
Some responses are sung at all masses, but more are sung at the main Saturday and Sunday parish masses.
We are seeking to enlist the help of a small group of musical people to develop the singing of the ordinary parts of the mass, and hymns. And we welcome any person who can play any instrument (for example flute, saxaphone, recorder, violin), to complement our organists Stephen Dickinson and Norman Gardner.
